‘Dead Cells’ Gives Release Date to ‘Castlevania’-Inspired Expansion

Motion Twin has confirmed a release date for the Castlevania– inspired downloadable content (DLC) for dead cells.

According to Evil Empire, the Back to Castlevania DLC is “our very own love letter to the grandfather of dead cells”.

Announced earlier this week during a Nintendo Direct, Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania due out on March 6.

The DLC will bring “two new biomes” to dead cells where games can “wield iconic weapons such as the vampire slayer, throw axes and holy water against classic enemies like newts, bone throwers and haunted armor on your warpath to defeat Dracula himself”.

“Three epic boss fights await you throughout the Haunted Castle, no prizes for guessing who one of them is,” the developers continued.

Originally announced late last year, Motion Twin and Evil Empire said, “Yes, one of the biggest, if not the biggest, inspirations behind dead cells is reimagined in our frantic, fast-paced gameplay with our most ambitious DLC yet.

“Somehow we were able to convince Konami to let us recreate this truly iconic pillar of the game, and we loved every minute we spent writing our own love letter to the grandfather of dead cellsbringing the Castlevania series back to its 2D action roots. We hope we have done justice to the game that has inspired thousands of others and it has been a ridiculous privilege to work on this project.

The expansion will also include more than 60 Castlevania tracks and reportedly costs $9.99 (£8.30). Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania versions pour PC, Xbox, Nintendo Switch et PlayStation.

Elsewhere during the Nintendo Direct, the company shared a new gameplay trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and gave Advanced Wars 1+2 a new release date.

Nintendo has also confirmed that a number of Game Boy and Game Boy Advance titles will be available on the Switch, through its expansion pack subscription service, alongside a new steampunk-inspired game. Professor Layton game.
