Dead Space Remake Reveals in Stunning Never-Before-Seen Footage

In development at Canadian outfit Motive Studio, the remake of this sci-fi horror classic seems to be on the right track.

Critical more than commercial success, Dead Space will have brought in his time a number of novelties for a genre already widely exploited by Resident Evil and consorts. With a story close to that ofAlien the Ridley Scott (a universe adapted in VR), Dead Space notably offered a clever display of essential data, integrated directly into the hero, Isaac.

The luminous energy bars on his back represented his life, the number of remaining ammunition was displayed on his laser cutter and not on an annex counter. This weapon by destination, an engineer’s tool, allowed him to opt for a horizontal or vertical cut, depending on the situation or the enemies encountered. Finally, a system of light lines on the ground acted as a guide when the player got lost in the maze of the USG Ishimura ship.

The Killing of Isaac

If death very frequently punctuated the adventure of this poor Isaac, often in an atrocious way, loadings and other technical constraints also broke the fluidity of the progress of this spatial survival. The developers of Motive, having at heart not to make a simple adaptation of the game but a real remake, have erased this defect thanks to the use of the ultra fast SSD drives of the new generation consoles. Moreover, the title will be played according to their own words like the God Of War of 2018, in one go, in the form of a long sequence shot. the slight delay taken by the developer is justified by the meticulous care given to every detail of their creation. And the graphic quality revealed by their latest captures shows how beautiful this adventure will be.

Towards the Ishimura and beyond

Aware of the impact of the original on its fans, the developers explain on their blog official the attention to detail they demonstrate. For example, by modernizing the design of the flamethrower while respecting its model. They also multiply exchanges with players of Dead Space, every six weeks, to make sure you’re on the right track. Motive seeks an ambitious balance, between a modern and new gaming experience for players discovering the license, and a sufficiently surprising return for connoisseurs with side quests intertwining in the initial story. See you on January 27, 2023 to judge.
