The businessman had also been director of a modeling agency and producer of shows on top models, including Claudia Schiffer for TF1 in 1995. Well known in the world of fashion and celebrities, Jean-Yves Le Fur sometimes appeared in the newspapers himself: he had been engaged briefly to Stéphanie de Monaco in April 1990.
