The acting and elected governors of Together for Change detached themselves this afternoon from the decision of Patricia Bullrich, who publicly announced this afternoon that she will support Javier Milei in the presidential runoff scheduled for next November 19.

In a press release, the leaders ratified their opposition to the national government, but clarified that this decision does not mean explicit support for the libertarian leader. In contrast, they emphasized that they will continue working to defend his values, but without surrendering “to the alchemist on duty” or “betraying his identity.”

“Our duty at this moment is not to determine who will be the next president, but to reaffirm the founding values of Together for Change, establishing ourselves as the main opposition in Congress, with the largest territorial presence in the country, dedicated to protecting the institutions and supervise the government that is elected on November 19, accompanying what contributes to strengthening the agenda of work, production and the Republic and limiting any attempt at populism on the left or right that continues to deepen the serious socioeconomic crisis in which we find ourselves. we found,” they pointed out.

Along these lines, they affirmed that they will continue to be the “main resistance to economic populism,” they highlighted their disagreements with the ruling party and stressed that they will maintain a position contrary to the ideas that Unión por la Patria proclaims.

Patricia Bullrich when announcing that she will support Javier Milei in the runoff: “The urgency of the moment challenges us not to be neutral.”

However, they also differed from the main proposals made explicit by the leader of Libertad Avanza. In the letter, the provincial leaders ratified their defense of education and public health, and assured that they will not endorse “a dollarization without dollars through an aggressive devaluation of our currency.”

“We will protect our identity from where society gave us the mandate to do so: the government of 10 provinces and hundreds of municipalities, and the opposition in the National Congress, committed to contributing to the emergence of the long lethargy in which it is immersed. the country, but without betraying our identity or handing it over to the highest bidder,” they noted.

Likewise, they assured that their objective will be to regain the trust of citizens so that Together for Change can once again be the strongest alternative that presents the best presidential candidate in 2027.

“Our 10 governors and hundreds of mayors will work to be models of efficient management throughout the country. And our national senators and deputies will be the guarantee of republican control and economic development in Congress, following the public policies that we have always defended,” they confirmed. And they concluded: “We are going to fight from the place in which the people’s vote placed us.”

It is worth noting that Claudio Poggi (San Luis) could not attend and sent his elected vice-governor, Ricardo Endeiza. Maximiliano Pullaro (Santa Fe), meanwhile, was also absent while traveling in the United States – he gave his approval for the statement. Jorge Macri (CABA) was not present either.

Those of us who sign this document, elected and serving governors of Together for Change, share the deep conviction that Argentina can emerge from the decline in which it is mired and return to being a prosperous and thriving country in which its inhabitants can progress. and live with well-being and peace. And to achieve this we must be more faithful than ever to the values we represent.

Our position will continue to be that of the unrestricted defense of republican values, individual freedoms, freedom of expression, the culture of work, merit, production, federalism and a position vis-à-vis the rest of the world that defend the national interest and democracy. We will do this protection of our identity from where society gave us a mandate to do so: the government of 10 provinces and hundreds of municipalities, and the opposition in the National Congress, committed to contributing to the emergence of the long lethargy in which the country is immersed. country, but without betraying our identity or handing it over to the highest bidder.

We will continue to be the main resistance to economic populism that brought us to our knees in the face of the scourge of inflation, the daughter of a fiscally irresponsible government. We will continue to confront any attempt to interfere with the judiciary and achieve impunity for the flagrant acts of corruption of which the people were witnesses and victims in recent years. We will continue to reject any international alignment with dictatorial governments or those with little commitment to human rights, which distance Argentine production and work from its intelligent insertion in the world.

But the way to do it is by reaffirming the founding values of Together for Change in the National Congress and the provinces, and not by handing over our identity to the alchemist on duty. You will always find us defending public education, and the access of all Argentines to quality health. We are not going to contribute to a greater fragmentation of the income of our people by forcing dollarization without dollars through an aggressive devaluation of our currency.

We will continue working tirelessly to regain the trust of citizens and establish ourselves once again as the most solid alternative, presenting the best presidential candidate in 2027. Our 10 governors and hundreds of mayors will work to be models of efficient management throughout the country. And our national senators and deputies will be the guarantee of republican control and economic development in Congress following the public policies that we have always defended.

Stabilizing the economy is the essential precondition to return to a path of growth and development. It is not possible to produce, generate work and progress with these levels of inflation that hit us all and harm those who have the least even more. We know that stabilization requires a) rapid fiscal organization (zero deficit in the 2024 budget), in which politics must be the first to make the effort to achieve balance in public accounts; b) a tax reduction compatible with fiscal balance; c) an independent Central Bank to ensure the end of the issuance and defend the value of our currency; d) an exit from the stocks as quickly as possible and the unification of exchange rates; and c) an ordering of relative prices.

We are going to fight from the place where the people’s vote placed us against the current model of managed commerce and promote a significant debureaucratization of the obstacles and regulations that slow down the momentum of our SMEs and producers. It is essential to move forward with new and more modern social coverage regimes to formalize employment and continue fighting the litigation industry that bankrupts our companies, modernize collective bargaining and enable severance funds for high turnover sectors.

We are committed to fighting in all areas to begin the systematic reduction of withholdings on agriculture, energy, mining and regional economies until their total elimination and replacement with a tax scheme that does not penalize exports, but rather promote.

We have to give a clear and forceful fight to organized crime, with the redeployment of federal forces to critical areas. We need maximum security prisons to isolate drug trafficking bosses and thus cut their control over criminal organizations. We must deepen the criminal prosecution of capital flows and money laundering, eliminating the release of those accused of said crimes, and sanction the law of forfeiture of ownership once and for all to freeze the assets of criminals and thus attack the heart of their businesses.

Argentina needs an independent, effective and credible justice system. We have to move forward in the implementation of the adversarial system in federal criminal justice and orally in civil trials. We are going to promote the completion of the integration of the Supreme Court and the appointment of the Attorney General. We will present a protection law for whistleblowers and witnesses in corruption cases and the clean record law.

Our duty at this moment is not to determine who will be the next president, but to reaffirm the founding values of Together for Change, establishing ourselves as the main opposition in Congress with the largest territorial presence in the country, dedicated to protecting the institutions and supervising the government that is elected on November 19, accompanying what contributes to promoting the agenda of work, production and the Republic and limiting any attempt at left-wing populism.
