Toilets, name changes and more: trans people are still struggling with high hurdles at the University of Göttingen. Trans student Lucas Morgan explains exactly what needs to change at Georgia Augusta.

Göttingen. Lucas Morgan is a female-male transgender person. That is, he was born a woman but identifies as a man. And that makes some things more complicated for students at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen: for example, finding a suitable toilet or filling out personal details. Transgender, or trans for short, refers to people whose gender identity does not match the gender assigned at birth or who completely refuse to accept a binary gender role – i.e. male or female. Having to decide on a binary gender on paper or not even having the opportunity to do so puts trans students under pressure, including at the University of Göttingen.
