Asunción, IP Agency.- The last epidemiological week shows a progressive decrease in notifications of dengue cases, reported the Ministry of Health. They urge periodic verification to eliminate breeding sites.
In three weeks, 26,048 notifications were registered, mostly coming from Central, Itapua, Asuncion, Upper Parana, Misiones, Paraguay, Caaguazú, Guairá and Ñeembucú.
Of these notifications, some 5,012 were cases with a diagnosis of dengue.
The most affected age group corresponds to children from 5 to 9 years old, followed by children from 10 to 14 years old.
Of all the samples processed this year, 87% correspond to DEN-2, the predominant serotype in Paraguay.
Hospitalizations and deaths
In the last three weeks, 1,091 hospitalized patients were registered due to suspected arbovirosis; Some 388 (30%) correspond to cases with a diagnosis of dengue, of which 15 (4%) were admitted to intensive care.
Among hospitalized patients, the most affected age range is children from 5 to 14 years old. The hospitalization of 4 pregnant women was also recorded.
According to the report, 57% of those hospitalized are registered in the Central and Asunción regions; while 16% come from the department of Misiones.
As for deaths, no deaths were recorded in the last three weeks.

The General Directorate of Health Surveillance encourages not to let our guard down and to continue with prevention actions: daily elimination of potential mosquito breeding sites and the use of repellent and mosquito net, as well as the installation of metal mesh on doors and windows.
It is essential to inspect the patio and the interior of the house and discard any unused objects that accumulate water. Useless objects that cannot be disposed of, such as household appliances, tires or others, must be placed under a roof or covered to prevent the accumulation of water.
Likewise, covering tanks and drums with water that will be used and replacing the water in the vases with moist soil are fundamental actions.
At the first symptom or discomfort, it is important to consult a doctor and it is recommended not to self-medicate.
