Before him dengue outbreak and other diseases transmitted by mosquitosfrom the Legislature they requested the provincial government that the provision of repellent be guaranteed “quickly and free of charge” which is manufactured in the Industrial Pharmaceutical Laboratory (LIF) for the public health system.
The provincial deputy of the Socialist party Clara Garcia requested that, through the Ministry of Health, be implemented “the distribution and existence in sufficient quantities of free repellent”.
The claim aimed especially to all health agents in the province and areas involved in blockade activitiessays a statement.
In the project presented, the legislator specified that thehe more than 5,800 confirmed cases of dengue to date exceed the 5,005 registered in 2020along with 32 of chikungunya, when the last outbreak occurred. And he highlighted the concentration in the department of General Forced, where 3,474 cases were confirmed.
“Beyond the different prevention measures, in this context of the outbreak, the repellent becomes an essential input for individual and collective protection. The government must guarantee sufficient stock to respond to the demand of the population in addition to strengthening awareness and prevention campaigns throughout the provincial territory, ”García claimed.
In addition, in its request it detailed the different groups to whom the provision of repellent must be guaranteed:
- Health teams that care for and control suspected patients with non-specific febrile syndrome compatible with arboviral diseases;
- People in whom nonspecific febrile syndrome is suspected (of dengue and other diseases);
- Populations in the blockade zone and in a vulnerable situation that cannot economically access repellents and since the use of other homemade products is not recommended;
- Teams involved in blockade actions for mosquito-borne diseases and search for feverish people in the territory.
Recommendations to prevent dengue
- Keep spaces clean and empty any object that can accumulate water.
- Prevent the entry of mosquitoes with metal mesh and coils.
- Use repellent and reinforce its application every 2 hours.
- If symptoms such as fever, muscle pain, nausea or vomiting, skin spots, nose or gum bleeding appear, go to the nearest health care provider or call a doctor.
