Basketball: Outstanding Jokic and Murray give Denver the lead
Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray led the Denver Nuggets to a 2-1 lead in the NBA Finals against the Miami Heat as a congenial duo. Both top stars achieved a triple double in the 109:94 away win. The combination had not previously existed in the finals of the North American professional basketball league.
Serbian Jokic dominated with 32 points, 21 rebounds and 10 assists. Canadian playmaker Murray had 34 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. “It was by far the best performance they’ve put on as a duo in their seven years together,” said Nuggets coach Michael Malone, whose team still needs two wins to win the title.
Miami, who had their best player in Jimmy Butler (28 points), have another chance to equalize in front of their own fans on Saturday night.
Basketball: Suns part ways with Paul
The 12-time NBA Allstar Chris Paul apparently has to look for a new team. As several US media reports, the Phoenix Suns are about to be separated from the star playmaker. Most recently, the Arizona franchise hired former Lakers master coach Frank Vogel as the new head coach.
Vogel does not appear to be counting on Paul, who has been directing the Suns’ game so far. The point guard is still chasing his first NBA title at 38. Phoenix lost to the Denver Nuggets in the quarterfinals of the playoffs that year.
