Deputy Z Trovo asks the Ministry of Justice to suspend violent games in Brazil

Federal deputy Zé Trovão (PL/SC) presented yesterday, Monday (10), a request for the Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP) to suspend temporarily electronic games with violent content in Brazil.

According to the parliamentarian, the measure is necessary after the attacks on schools in the country in the last few weeks. The suspension of “violent games” it would be for 30 days that an eventual relationship between the games and the attended is investigated.

In an excerpt from the request, Zé Trovão mentions the possibility that the perpetrator of the massacre at a day care center in Blumenau (SC), last week, was inspired by these titles to commit the crime that resulted in the brutal death of four children.

However, the Civil Police of Santa Catarina, which is investigating the case, did not confirm the relationship between the attack and online gaming communities. When examining the cell phone of the perpetrator of the massacre, the agents found no evidence of games on the device.

The parliamentarian also asked the creation of criminalization mechanisms for cases in which violent content is found on the computers of those being investigated, as in cases of pedophilia, for example.

In the document sent to the MJSP, there is also a mention of the possibility of creating measures that prevent the sale and use of this type of game in the country. The parliamentarian’s proposal awaits the dispatch of the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (PP/AL).
