Desmond Bane out for two to three weeks minimum

Good news can sometimes hide bad news. Whereas Jaren Jackson Jr. is set to make a comeback on the court, it is Desmond Bane who takes over in the infirmary because of an injury to the big toe of the right foot.

Two to three weeks of absence minimum. This is the duration announced by the Grizzlies franchise this Tuesday if we are to believe Shams Charania of The Athletic. Stricked in the toe during the meeting against the Timberwolves and forfeited for the last game against Washington, Bane had additional tests in recent days and they revealed a sprain of level 2. Not quite the kind of news the Grizzlies expected , they who will therefore have to do without their incumbent back until at least the beginning of December, or even longer depending on the future results of the reassessment.

It’s a mini blow, both for Desmond and for the Grizzlies. Because the guy at the start of the season, he was a hit: 24.7 points average, 4.9 rebounds, 4.8 assists, all at 46.5% shooting success including 45% from the parking lot and more than 91% from the free throw line. Very, very serious figures illustrating the impressive rise in power of the 30th choice of the 2020 Draft, who has not stopped progressing since his arrival in Memphis. If the Grizz have taken their place among the strongest teams in the West and have a record of 9 wins in 14 games at the start of the season, it is also because Ja Morant’s friend on the backcourt crosses the one after another.

Without him, we imagine that Memphis will turn to John Konchar, who has started twice this season in the absence of Desmond Bane. Precious off the bench and able to send dirty from the bar, the 26-year-old undrafted rear is in front of a great opportunity. It’s up to him to seize it to help the Grizzlies negotiate the various stages to come.
