Four banks reduced the limits for cash withdrawals outside Egypt from the beginning of this month, which led to increased pressure on the currency.
The banks of Egypt, the National Bank of Egypt, the Commercial International CIB and the SAIB Bank decided to reduce the cash withdrawal limits by a rate ranging from 50% to more than 90%, while the banks’ decisions varied between keeping the purchase limits unchanged or approving a small reduction.
Banks have unanimously agreed during the last period to choose to reduce the limits of cash withdrawals and purchases outside Egypt using credit cards, debit and credit cards, without prejudice to the established commission rate or fees and not to change it.

National Bank of Egypt
The classic card
Maximum cash withdrawal: the equivalent of 10 thousand pounds per day, with no more than 20 thousand pounds per month in foreign currency.
Maximum purchases: the equivalent of 50 thousand pounds per day in foreign currency.
The golden card
Maximum cash withdrawal: the equivalent of 15 thousand pounds per day, with no more than 30 thousand pounds per month in foreign currency.
Maximum purchases: the equivalent of 100,000 pounds per day in foreign currency.
Platinum Card (Master Card)
Maximum cash withdrawal: the equivalent of 25 thousand pounds per day, with no more than 40 thousand pounds per month in foreign currency.
Maximum purchases: the equivalent of 250 thousand pounds per day in foreign currency.
Platinum Card (Visa)
Maximum cash withdrawal: the equivalent of 25 thousand pounds per day, with no more than 40 thousand pounds per month in foreign currency.
Maximum purchases: the equivalent of 300 thousand pounds per day in foreign currency.
– World Card (MasterCard)
Maximum cash withdrawal: the equivalent of 37 thousand pounds per day, with no more than 50 thousand pounds per month in foreign currency
Maximum purchases: the equivalent of 400,000 pounds per day in foreign currency.
– World Elite Card (MasterCard)
Maximum cash withdrawal: the equivalent of 50 thousand pounds per day, with no more than 50 thousand pounds per month in foreign currency.
Maximum purchases: the equivalent of 500 thousand pounds per day in foreign currency.
Commercial International Bank
– Prime, Youth, Prime m, and Loan cards: the monthly limit for cash withdrawal is 5,000 pounds, and for purchases at merchants or the Internet, it is equivalent to 20,000 pounds.
Plus Titanium Card: The monthly limit for cash withdrawals is 10 thousand pounds, and for purchases with merchants or the Internet, it is equivalent to 50 thousand pounds.
Wealth Card: Platinum The monthly limit for cash withdrawal is equivalent to 20 thousand pounds, and for purchases with merchants or the Internet, it is equivalent to 100 thousand pounds.
Visa Business Platinum Card: The monthly limit for cash withdrawal is equivalent to 30,000 pounds, and for purchases with merchants or the Internet, it is equivalent to 200,000 pounds.
Egypt Bank
Visa and MasterCard (Classic): The limits for cash withdrawals outside Egypt (ATM and POS) decreased to the equivalent of $500 per month instead of $5,000, while purchases amounted to $9,000 per month, instead of $18,000 per month.
Gold Card: ATM-POS cash withdrawal limits are equivalent to only $500 per month instead of $5,000, while purchase limits are $9,000 instead of $18,000 per month.
Platinum Card: The limits for cash withdrawals outside Egypt (ATM-POS) are equivalent to only 750 dollars per month instead of 10 thousand dollars, while the limits of purchases are equivalent to 12 thousand dollars and 500 dollars per month instead of 25 thousand dollars per month.
– Titanium Card: – Limits for cash withdrawals outside Egypt (ATM-POS) equivalent to 750 dollars per month, while the limits of purchases are 12 thousand dollars and 500 dollars per month.
– World Card, World Elite: cash withdrawal limits are equivalent to 1500 dollars per month, and the purchase limit does not exceed the equivalent of 25 thousand dollars per month.
SAIB Bank:
Classic Card: The daily cash withdrawal limit is $50, with no more than $100 per month, while the maximum purchase amount is $250 per day, with no more than $1,000 per month.
Titanium Card: The daily cash withdrawal limit is $150, with no more than $300 per month, while the maximum purchase amount is $1,000 per day, with no more than $2,500 per month.
The Platinum Card: The daily cash withdrawal limit is $300, with no more than $600 per month, while the maximum purchase limit is $2,000 per day, with no more than $3,000 per month.
The World Elite Card: The daily cash withdrawal limit is $500, with no more than $1,000 per month, while the maximum purchase limit is $4,000 per day, with no more than $10,000 per month.
