The emergency services of Picardy Wallonia were alerted on Saturday, at 12:35 p.m., that a fire had broken out in a house on rue de Calonne in Chercq, in the entity of Tournai.
Coming from the barracks of Tournai and Blaton, two fire engines, two tank trucks, a ladder truck and a command vehicle were dispatched to the scene.
When first responders arrived, the building was already ablaze. At the time of the fire, the occupant of the premises, a lady in her fifties and living alone, was absent. Despite the means deployed, this house was destroyed by fire. Firefighters worked to save nearby homes from the flames. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
