DGO changes its name (again) and will now be called SKY+

It wasn’t long ago (a little over a year, to be exact) that the old DIRECTV GO changed name to DGO, but the live channel streaming service is regarding to undergo another name change. It will be called SKY+a change that is the result of a SKY strategy to unify the brand in Brazil.

According to Medium&Messagethe change will begin to come into force on the next day December 6. There will be a transition period for current customers of the service, but for potential new users the brand change will be immediate — including the redirection of online traffic to the SKY+ page.

CEO of SKY, executive Gustavo Fonseca explained that the idea is to use the already technically established platform to achieve the next step in the company’s ambitions, focusing efforts on distribution and connectivity with already consolidated services (such as SKY, SKY Fibra and SKY+) .

And this renewal will go beyond a simple change in the name of the platform, as some new features are expected to come into play with the transition to SKY+: the possibility of watching content on up to three screens simultaneously (there were two on DGO) and, possibly, the entry of new channels.

Actions to publicize the news will take place on the DGO app itself, on TV/radio channels and on the internet. Subscribers will be able to update the application with the current brand for a certain period, but should see the service’s identity being completely replaced in the coming months.
