THE outbreak of Dangue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) has caused inpatient rooms in several hospitals to be filled with patients undergoing care and treatment.

To ensure that health services for the community continue to run, hospitals in West Bandung Regency have also added patient care rooms.

“It’s true that some hospitals are starting to fill up. It’s true that not all of them are dengue fever patients, there are other diseases. But for now dengue fever dominates,” said Head of Disease Prevention and Control (P2P) at the West Bandung Health Service (Diskes), Nurul Rasihan, Sunday ( 3/24).

DHF cases in West Bandung continue to increase. From January 1 to Saturday (23/3), the number of dengue fever cases reached 1,143 cases with 11 deaths.

Of that number, 71 people are still being treated in hospital
details of 10 at Lembang Regional Hospital, 16 at Karisma Cimareme Hospital (RSKC), 21 at Cahya Kawaluyan Hospital, 14 at RSIA Graha Medika Padalarang, and 10 patients at IMC Padalarang Hospital.

“Because the treatment rooms are full, the hospital will add more beds, that is SOP. Moreover, they have experience in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.

A similar condition also occurred in Cimahi City, the increase in dengue fever cases meant that the children’s treatment rooms at the Cibabat Regional General Hospital (RSUD) were full.

Deputy Director of Services at Cibabat Regional Hospital, Ars Agustiningsih, admitted that his party had opened an additional room to accommodate patients, but now it is full.

He said that currently there are still dengue fever patients waiting for their turn to enter the Cibabat Regional Hospital inpatient room. They were put on a waiting list or waiting list in the emergency room at Cibabat Regional Hospital.

“The queue of patients entering the inpatient room has been going on since the beginning of this year as dengue fever cases continue to spread,” said Ars.

According to him, since the beginning of the year, Cibabat Hospital has been flooded with dengue fever patients. In January there were 74 patients being treated, in February 63 patients and until mid-March there were 31 patients being treated at Cibabat Regional Hospital for dengue fever.

The number of dengue fever patients being treated at Cibabat Regional Hospital has increased drastically compared to the initial period of 2023. In January 2023 there were only 7
patients, in February 10 patients and in March 7 dengue fever patients were treated.

“DHF patients who are still being treated come from various regions, not just
Cimahi. There were 2 patients who died in January, adults with
comorbid,” he explained.
