“Hungary’s government is fighting together with the Austrian right for a real democracy in Europe,” Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó during a visit by European politician Petra Steger (FPÖ).
Szijjártó supported his point of view by pointing out that in a real democracy those whose opinions deviate from the “mainstream” and who stand up for national interests are not labeled. The minister sees the Orbán government’s cooperation with the Austrian right as an important contribution “to preserving our sovereignty and stopping this imposed EU course of a federalist superstate.” A successful community consists of strong, successful member states. This includes public security, which starts with secure external borders in order to stop uncontrolled immigration.
Reliable partner at eye level
Petra Steger reiterated the Hungarian ruling party’s desire to bring about “a massive turnaround in favor of the right” in the European elections because this is the only way to stop the decline of the EU. “Hungary is and remains a reliable partner on an equal footing,” she explained, pointing out that this partnership “can be lived with confidence” again as soon as the FPÖ returns to government responsibility in Vienna. In her opinion, the reason why more and more people are siding with the patriotic forces does not happen independently of the arrogant leadership style of the EU headquarters, where the citizens’ interests have been “trampled on a continuous basis in recent years.”
