Blizzard has promised to get “feedback” from players on Diablo 4’s latest update after the community backlash. Diablo 4 got its long-awaited pre-Season 1 patch, 1.1.0, yesterday, and it didn’t take long for players to criticize Blizzard for implementing heavy power-ups. The patch makes nerfs across the board, especially for mage players who were confused by the high impact on their class’ power. Popular end-game activity, Heldites, became more difficult, and as the cost of opening mystic chests increased, it was slow (low ember drop rate bug) The experience reward for killing monsters at higher levels greatly reduces Blizzard Grid Strike damage, weak damage, and reduced waiting time, Plus some fixes that reduce the effectiveness of many of the fixed builds. “In general, we prefer building changes to be bonuses rather than reductions, but we feel these changes are essential to the overall health of the game,” Blizzard explained. “Diablo 4 is a game that continues to evolve through its seasons, so the changes we make will evolve with them.” The result is that the Diablo 4 community believes these changes have slowed down progress in all aspects of the game. “It’s not like this game started with lightning speed, but now it’s a perfect game,” Morales wrote in a Reddit post. Post received more than 19,000 votes. Diablo-related subreddits and social media have been flooded with player complaints about the patch, with some saying it will slow down tools until Blizzard takes action. Level 52 Solo didn’t quite make the dream come true. These spots are very tough. It must be completely redone. I’ll be playing the last era of ProjectD2 for my ARPG fix – DannyFaln (@DannyFaln) July 18, 2023 I love playing Diablo 4 now, but this new patch sucks all the fun out of it. I always get stuck when changing menus or teleporting to big cities. Server lag is worse when loading new regions. The nerf XP is also a bummer. Idk, hope S1 fixes a few things. — Nightwraith21 (@its_nighttime) July 19, 2023 God the Diablo 4 patch notes are so sad. Seasonal influences must be very strong. Mid 40’s my sorc would have been a hit on NMDs if it weren’t for the ice barrier before shields and protests. Even decrease cash and vulva damage – Eva like bots (@cerulean_tear) Jul 18, 2023 Seriously @Team, what’s up with the XP Nerf in Diablo 4?! Grinding for hours to level up is not fun or rewarding. We want to enjoy the end game content and farm equipment, and not feel stuck in an endless leveling process. #Diablo 3 was awesome – Jason (@bucknoris) July 19, 2023 Adam Fletcher, Diablo’s director of community development, said last night on Twitter that Blizzard employees will be addressing this issue in a conversation about shooting later this week. “We asked players for their opinions on some of the changes in 1.1.0 for Diablo 4,” said Fletcher. We’ll be talking more about the fire chat this weekend on Friday. We’ll have more details soon [and] next day time. Thanks again for the comment! Mulligan’s Season, on July 20. Diablo 4 enjoyed a hugely successful launch (it’s Blizzard’s fastest-selling game of all time), and has always been a welcome hit, despite controversy over the internet and some server issues.
