Diablo Immortal may not release in China due to insulting the head of China in a post on the game’s Weibo page

Action RPG Diablo Immortal from Blizzard Entertainment had difficulty releasing in the Chinese market due to a posting on the title’s Weibo page. This was reported by Radio Free Asia, citing its own sources.

At the end of May, the Diablo Immortal account posted the phrase “Why hasn’t the bear retired yet?”. According to media reports, this message could have a political context, insulting Chinese President Xi Jinping. Shortly after the release, the post was deleted, and the game’s page on the social network was blocked. Later developers also announced the transfer release Diablo Immortal in China indefinitely.

The international release of Diablo Immortal took place on June 2. The game was not released in Russia and a number of other countries, such as Belgium and the Netherlands. What will happen to Diablo Immortal in China next is still unclear. It is also unknown whether this situation will affect the release of other titles from Blizzard in the country.
