PHOENIX (AP) — Zac Gallen was unbeatable for six innings, Ketel Marte and Evan Longoria homered in the first inning, and the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Colorado Rockies 5-1 Tuesday night.
Gallen (7-2) has gone 6 wins without losses with a 0.66 ERA in six starts at Chase Field this season. He allowed five hits, walked two and struck out seven batters, earning his first win in three outings.
He also improved his ERA to 2.72. The right-hander hasn’t allowed a home run in 63 innings since his second start of the season.
Corbin Carrol also homered and scored twice for Arizona, which has won three straight. Nolan Jones hit his first home run of the year in the ninth off reliever Kevin Ginkel.
Freeland (4-6) pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing six hits and five runs. His woes in his career against the Diamondbacks linger; he is 3-8 with a 5.49 ERA in 19 starts against division rivals.
For the Diamondbacks, the Dominican Ketel Marte went 1-for-4, drove in and scored a run with his eighth home run of the season; Puerto Rican Emmanuel Rivera batted 4-1; Venezuelan Gabriel Moreno 2-0 with an RBI, and Cuban Loudes Gurriel Jr. 4-0.
For the Rockies, Venezuelan Ezequiel Tovar batted 3-4, Harold Castro 1-4, and Elías Díaz 3-0.
