The Unicode Consortium opens until July 31, 2022 proposals for new emoji. If you have any ideas, don’t hesitate.
Have you ever found yourself writing a message, browsing the endless lists ofemoji only to realize that the emoji you need at that exact moment doesn’t exist? If so, or just think you have a great idea for an emoji, here’s your chance. The Unicode Consortium, the non-profit organization in charge of indexing emoji, is open to submissions from the general public.
So here’s how to come up with your own design or idea, and what that participation means.
How to prepare your file
There are currently a lot of emoji, even if they do not automatically appear on your phone. Before you jump into creating your own, you have a little homework.
First, check on your emoji idea has not already been accepted. If not, check that no one has proposed this idea and that it is pending study. This page is particularly handy when you want to submit a project because it also shows you which designs have been approved and rejected, giving you an idea of what the organization may or may not be looking for. Also take a look at automatic rejection criteria as well as to consideration criteria.
Also take the time to consult the prioritiesthe directivesthe strategiesthe reports and the audits of the committee. Finally, ask yourself if your emoji proposal has the potential to be used frequently and why.

How to submit your idea for a new emoji
The Unicode Consortium provides extremely detailed instructions, including concerning the completion and sending of your file. Make sure you don’t forget any information in the form. The dossiers incomplete will not be processed and returned to sender.
The deadline for submissions is July 31, 2022.
