Six weeks before July 1, moving companies are almost full in Mauricie. Some tenants will have more difficulty than others in finding their mover on time.
The year promises to be busy, according to the director of Déménagement Martel Express, François Lagacé. If the housing crisis forces customers to stay at the same address, companies have fewer arms. Result: The calendar fills up faster.
Due to the glaring lack of employees, some companies no longer offer residential moving services. This is the case for Transports Valois, in Trois-Rivières, which had to focus solely on commercial transportation. Its customers therefore find themselves elsewhere.
“I get a lot of calls. Summer is almost already “loaded”. I have a few spots in July,” commented the owner of Les As du Déménagement, Bryan Mineau.
Third-floor tenants may have more difficulty obtaining services this year. Finding your mover is complicated, since several companies in Trois-Rivières have stopped offering the service. “They are more selective, the employees, in a way. […] There are a lot of companies that don’t. For what? The risk of injury. We are already short of manpower, ”explained the general manager of Bro Déménagement, Mathieu Bleau.
Again, rejected customers turn to the few companies that accept them. The choice is sometimes considerably reduced.
Regarding the invoice, depending on the moving date and the company chosen, prices can vary between $200 and $300 per hour. A less dazzling increase than that of last year, notably caused by the increase in the price of oil.
