Disaster scenario in Saalbach for Lara Gut-Behrami. The Ticino, 17th in the last downhill of the season, had the globe of the specialty blown away by the Austrian Cornelia Hütter, who won ahead of the Slovenian Ilka Stuhec and the Italian Nicol Delago. Best Swiss, Michelle Gisin ranks 7th.
Lara Gut-Behrami did not conclude her dream season with a 4th globe in Saalbach. After the general, the giant and the super-G, the Ticino missed the downhill. Leader’s red bib before the last descent of the season, the Ticino native had the globe of the premier discipline stolen by Hütter who was 68 points behind.
With the Austrian’s victory, Gut-Behrami should have ranked at worst in 9th place. But the Ticino was unable to do anything on this route whose long sliding sections were not favorable to her. She conceded 1″89 to the winner of the day, who at 31 years old, offers herself a first small crystal globe.
Michelle Gisin did well. Twice 8th in Altenmarkt and St-Moritz, the Obwalden did even better with a 7th place.
