Discover French Culture: Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi’s Grand Oral Workshops with Prominent Guests

Students at Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, as part of their studies, are invited to participate in workshops which allow them to discover different cultural aspects of France, while honing their personal and interpersonal qualities.

A new workshop, entitled “Le Grand Oral de la Sorbonne” is offered to them. During preparatory sessions, the students will engage in real journalistic work, in order to find as much information as possible on the guest of the Grand Oral. This information will allow them to prepare questions that provide rich, detailed and thought-provoking answers.
This interview between the guest and the students will take place during a special evening, and will be open to the public. The second guest of the Sorbonne Grand Oral will be Mr. Manuel Rabaté, director of the Louvre Abu Dhabi.
A former student of the Paris Institute of Political Studies and HEC, Manuel Rabaté has been director of the Louvre Abu Dhabi museum since 2016. Mr. Rabaté has had a brilliant career, working with prestigious cultural institutions, such as the Agence France Musée, the Louvre Museum and the Quai Branly-Jacques Chirac Museum. The discussion will focus on different themes.
In order to have an exceptional first Grand Oral, HE Nicolas Niemtchinow, French Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates was invited to this exercise. This evening took place on October 4, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. local time.
HE Nicolas Niemtchinow has been French Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates since January 2023. A former student of the National School of Administration, the Paris Institute of Political Studies and the Ecole Normale Supérieure, HE Nicolas Niemtchinow has held various functions at the Ministry of Defense, but also within the French embassies in Russia and Jordan. He was also ambassador, permanent representative of France to the United Nations Office in Geneva and deputy director of the International Labor Organization (ILO). HE Nicolas Niemtchinow answered students’ questions on different themes.
