Riyadh: Oman is the guest country at this year’s Riyadh International Book Fair. Organized by the Saudi Literature, Publishing and Translation Authority, the fair will be held from the 28th of this month to the 7th of October at the King Saud University campus in Riyadh. This year’s fair is titled ‘Inspiring Destination’.
Oman is participating in the exhibition in the spirit of historical friendship and strong fraternal ties that bind the two brotherly countries.
It also reflects the cultural exchange and cooperation between Saudi and Oman. The fair will have a large Omani pavilion featuring books and manuscripts. Many symbols of Omani culture will be presented.

There will be a great participation of Omani literary talents and writers. There will also be a special pavilion with several stalls of Omani publishing houses.
More than 10 lakh visitors are expected to attend this year’s fair. Publishers from all over the world will be present at the fair where the latest books will be released and exhibited. More than 1800 publishers from different countries are expected to set up stalls. Along with this, the fair will also host dozens of different cultural programs for all ages.
It will include sessions by Saudi, Arab and international speakers, poetry evenings with classical and Nabataean poets, Saudi and international plays, musical concerts and workshops in various fields of knowledge. There will also be a poetry recitation competition for children. This is the first time that such a competition is being organized for children. The authority will organize an international publishers conference on October 4 in the fair city to discuss various aspects of the book industry and the challenges faced by the publishing houses.
