Silvio is a 30-year-old musician, author, composer and performer. Born in the United States to a Sicilian father and a Vietnamese mother, Silvio grew up in Moorea, where he arrived at the age of three. Silvio defines himself as a singer of varieties of Tahitian culture.
Silvio’s mother wants her children to learn to play a musical instrument. At 12, he took his first guitar lessons. The stringed instrument takes more and more place in the life of the young teenager. He now has a dream: to become a professional guitarist. At 16, Silvio Cicéro wins the second edition of the “Espoirs Guitare” contest of the “Tahiti Festival Guitare 2009”. Singing and writing appear in stride during the high school years.
Later, Silvio Cicéro opened a music school in downtown Papeete. He still gives guitar and ukulele lessons there.
The musician is working on the titles of his next opus which is due out this year. This one will be recorded in Nashville, the birthplace of country music. Silvio is keen on it because he wants to have the sound so typical of the famous studios of the capital of Tennessee. The artist appreciates this original sound to which he adds modernity with ukuleles and lyrics in Tahitian.
Silvio is also preparing his next concerts with musician friends. He formed a quartet: bass, drums, piano and guitar. The formation meets regularly to rehearse. The artist is not used to working with a group. He discovers and he likes it. He appreciates the contribution of the collective.
