It is said that the Apple Watch will get widgets similar to the iPhone with the watchOS 10 operating system that will be launched later this year. In addition, Apple may change the way some of its smart watch buttons work to provide a more than wonderful user experience. Let’s get to know the most important radical changes coming to the Apple Watch with watchOS 10.

Apple watch

When Apple first launched its smart watch in 2015, watchOS was designed around four main elements: watch faces, a widget interface called Glances, a home screen with app icons, and an area for accessing your Frequent Contacts. Within a few years, the company had tweaked the strategy and abandoned widgets and contacts in favor of notifications and multitasking.

Through these changes, applications remained the most important part of the Apple smart watch, and although the watch interfaces were a quick way to obtain information, the best way in the watch was and still is to run applications, but it seems that Apple decided to change its smart watch strategy via watchOS 10 , as it intends to bring the widget back and make it a vital component of the watch face.

According to Mark Gorman from Bloomberg, Apple plans to make a number of fundamental changes in its smart watch in order to give users faster access to important information, and the widget (mini-applications) will be a major part of the watch and through it the user will not need to open the application because the widget will provide him with a view General and quick to the information he wants in a jiffy.

Gorman also revealed more details about the new watchOS 10 operating system, where he said it will be a combination of the old design and widgets that were introduced in iOS 14. Through that widget, the user will be able to scroll through those widgets in order to get an overview. Get the calendar, weather, stock price and the latest news, without having to open the original app.

As for the widgets interface, it will be similar to the Siri interface that was introduced with watchOS 4. But unlike the latter, in watchOS 10 the user will be allowed to overlay and integrate widgets on any Apple watch face. Similar to the iOS system, the user will be able to add a group of widgets in one and move between them with ease.

That’s not all, as Gorman also explained that Apple is testing changes to the functionality of some of its smartwatch buttons. For example, pressing the Digital Crown can bring up the widget in watchOS 10 instead of opening the home screen, and Gorman believes that Apple may make its new smart watch interface optional for users, so that they gradually acclimate to the new design.

In addition, rumors indicate that Apple will focus this year on the operating system; That’s why watchOS 10 will bring the biggest revamp of the system since its launch, and the Apple Watch may also be able to sync with iPads and Macs this year, eliminating the need to pair the smartwatch with an iPhone.

Finally, Apple is expected to unveil watchOS 10 at its annual developer conference in June, along with iOS 17 and macOS 14, the 15-inch MacBook Air, and of course the long-awaited mixed reality glasses.
