Recently, the situation of gold mining has decreased significantly, the forest area is strictly protected, so the elephant’s safe area has been expanded and food is guaranteed.

Quang Nam Elephant Species and Habitat Conservation Area Management Board organized training and provided some equipment to repel elephants; equipped with a solar power system, when elephants come out of the electric forest, they will light themselves up; deploying planting some locust trees, creating fences and safe corridors to prevent elephants from going out.

Previously, in 2017, Nong Son district and Quang Nam Provincial People’s Committee cooperated with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to establish the Elephant Species and Habitat Conservation Area on an area of ​​​​nearly 19,000 hectares, in Phuoc Ninh Commune and Guilin; in which, the strictly protected subdivision covers an area of ​​13,000 ha.

In addition, the buffer zone of the reserve is 25,000 ha, belonging to 9 communes of 5 districts including Nong Son, Dai Loc, Nam Giang, Phuoc Son and Hiep Duc.
