Disney star Shaun Weiss was addicted to crystal meth for several years, arrested for drug possession and theft. Last Wednesday, the actor celebrated a special anniversary because he hasn’t been addicted to drugs for two years.

43-year-old actor Shaun Weiss rose to fame in the 1990s for his role as Greg Goldberg in the Disney films Mighty Ducks. But in recent years he has made many negative headlines with his drug use. The court ordered a withdrawal – which could well have saved his life.

Because his meth addiction drove him down a downward spiral: in 2017 he was sentenced to 150 days in prison for theft. Five days after his release, he was sentenced to another term for drug possession. The next incident came in August 2018: The actor had to answer to the court for public drunkenness. After he was sober again, he is said to have finally gone to a rehab clinic.

Shaun Weiss became a star as a child

He is best known for playing the clumsy Greg Goldberg in the Disney comedy Mighty Ducks. The family film was released in 1992 when Weiss was 14 and became famous for his role as a hockey player. He also played Greg Goldberg in the other two parts of the hit comedy. Several roles in various television series followed. He was last seen in the 2008 film “Drillbit Taylor” as a bus driver.

Weiss posted shocking before and after pictures on Instagram last Wednesday. At the time of his heavy drug use, he was almost unrecognizable: the actor had a sunken, sallow face and hardly any teeth. In his current photo, the 43-year-old shows himself with a beaming smile and writes: “A journey of a thousand miles begins with 12 incredible steps.”
