A dispute over a parked car led to a physical altercation in Wien-Landstrasse on Saturday. A 34-year-old hit his opponent on the head with a telescopic baton, who fought back with his fists.

A 48-year-old man had stopped in the driveway of an apartment building on Hofmannsthalgasse to let his wife get on. That didn’t sit well with a 34-year-old driver. After a brief verbal altercation, the two men brutally attacked each other, police said.

Weapons ban pronounced

The dispute between the two Romanians escalated shortly before noon. The 34-year-old hit his opponent in the head with a telescopic baton, who fought back with his fists. The 48-year-old suffered a laceration and had to be treated by the ambulance.

The murder weapon could not be found when police arrived. When checking the 34-year-old’s apartment, they met his 14-year-old son. He finally stated that he was present at the argument and brought the telescopic baton into the apartment before the police arrived, police spokesman Philipp Haßlinger reported on Sunday.

Both parties involved are reported, among other things, on suspicion of serious bodily harm or bodily harm. In addition, a provisional weapons ban was pronounced against the 34-year-old.
