After the rifle companies, our music bands were finally able to march up again and celebrate a festival together!
Almost everything was the same as before, apart from the fact that this time there was no marquee. And in such a case you need (weather) luck, which the brave always have. A great start with a full brass music show program on Saturday was followed on Sunday by the traditional parade with field mass, parade and also a marching music evaluation. Mainly responsible for the good success were MK-Völs-Obmann Roland PetzDeputy Chairman Michael Tomaschek (he deputized for the chairman, who fell ill shortly before the festival), Kapellmeister Christian Zoller and the entire Völser music team. But also pastor Christopher Pernter contributed his part. The quasi-command “today it will not rain” was not heeded during the field fair. However, he repeatedly demanded “it’ll stop soon anyway” with such emphasis that everyone who is responsible for the weather “up there” had no other choice.

The ceremony was streamlined, but the reading out of honorees and honorees from three years still took a certain amount of time. Five top-class awards were carried out on site. Christian Siller (MK Kreith), Martin Steffan (MK Aldrans) and Hansjoerg Haider were awarded the Golden Medal of Merit of the State Association. Barbara Brugger (MK Sistrans) and Klaus Klinar (MK Kematen) received the Silver Medal of Merit. district commissioner Franz Niederkofler and his two deputies Michael Kirchmair and Michael HaidLT Vice President. Erwin Probsthis deputy Thomas Rampl and the Völser Kapellmeister Christian Zoller. The mayors of the member bands were welcomed as further guests of honour. The music band of honor was provided by the MK Kematen, and the rifle company of Völs marched as the company of honour.

The big festival procession of the bands through Bahnhofstrasse to the fairground was a highlight, as was the evaluation of marching music at the sports field. The fully occupied stadium offered a magnificent setting – and representative of all those involved, the Grinzens band should be mentioned, which after months of preparation under the direction of Stabfuhrer Manuel Oberdanner and bandmaster Engelbert Wörndle was amply rewarded. Not only the spectators were enthusiastic about their “brass music show” in the highest level E, but also the judges, who awarded 94.47 points for this performance (see video). All other bands that have contributed to the successful comeback of the district music festival also deserve the greatest respect and general applause.
