Do you have a Qatar license and can you become an Uber driver? Can be an Uber driver with Qatar license

Doha: The Ministry of Transport has given more concessions to increase the number of taxis in view of the rush during the World Cup. Residents with a driver’s license can drive rider-share app taxis, including Uber, without registering with limousine companies, officials said. This benefit will remain till December 20.

The new amendment will also provide an opportunity for those who have completed the age of 21 to earn a driving license during the World Cup. The Supreme Committee also clarified that taxi services can be operated during the World Cup without a driver visa or limousine company registration. The conditions are that the vehicles must be of 2017-22 model and have a valid Qatar ID and driving license.

With the World Cup just days away, millions of tourists from different parts of the world are expected to flock to Qatar to ease their congestion, allowing more taxi services. After the ministry’s notification, Uber also issued a statement saying that it will use the opportunity to generate income for two months. Citizens and residents can use the application to run taxi services during the World Cup and earn better income.

Director of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy Mobility Operations, Thani Al Zara, said that he is happy to implement projects in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport and the private sector to provide the best and safest travel experience for international travelers arriving in Qatar during the World Cup.
