Big words from Barça President Laporta – is Haaland coming or is it all just hot air?
Barcelona President Joan Laporta, who described the club’s financial position as “dramatic” last summer, seems to have gotten rid of his worries. Despite a debt burden of over a billion euros, the 59-year-old wants to pull out the fat wallet.
“We will soon see the rise of Barça,” announced Laporta on Monday Presentation of newcomer Ferran Torres on. The President of the Catalans did not mention that the 21-year-old was committed to a loan in installments (approx. 55 million euros) and, moreover, could not even be registered due to the upper salary limit in Spain.
Still, “all the great players would consider coming to Barça,” Laporta said proudly. Even Erling Haaland? The transfer of the much sought-after Norwegian, including hand money and wages, would probably cost every buyer several hundred million euros.
