Swapna Suresh is preparing to approach the court seeking a confidential statement given to the customs in the dollar smuggling case. The move comes as Customs opposes the transfer of the confidential statement to EDI. The non-cooperation of customs also set back the ED investigation.
Sapna’s move comes amid allegations of malice in the customs stance against giving the confidential statement to another investigative agency. If the plaintiff requests a copy, the court cannot deny it. Sapna is approaching the court for a secret statement in the wake of allegations of political interference in the dragging out of the customs probe into the dollar smuggling case. Although the ED requested a confidential statement in connection with the dream dollar smuggling case, the court did not grant it due to customs objections.
The ED’s attempt to compare the two statements was to move the investigation forward. The Customs ED objected to the demand, pointing out that the investigation was not complete. It is suspected that there was a high-level intervention in the change in the position of customs, as in the case of the dollar smuggling investigation. CPM leaders had publicly responded that there were contradictions in the secret statements of the dream. It also reinforces the suspicion that the secret was leaked. The move is to bring these matters to the attention of the court as well. The application will be submitted to the court the next day after final discussions with the lawyers.
