Dominion Energy posts Q3 2026 earnings and reaffirms guidance

Dominion Energy, Inc. announced its third-quarter financial results on October 30, 2026, reporting a GAAP net income of $1.2 billion, or $1.30 per share, for the three months ended September 30, 2026. fr.tradingview.com reported these figures, comparing them directly against the $1.0 billion, or $1.16 per share, recorded during the same period in 2025.

Financial Performance and Operating Earnings Growth

The Richmond, Virginia-based utility company detailed its financial standing in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (DOMINION ENERGY, INC [ D ] – 8-K – Oct. 30, 2026). Operating earnings, which serve as the company’s primary non-GAAP performance measurement, reached $1.1 billion, or $1.28 per share, for the third quarter. This marked an increase from operating earnings of $921 million, or $1.06 per share, reported for the corresponding period in 2025.

Operating revenues climbed to $5.62 billion, up from $4.53 billion a year earlier. Total operating income also expanded, reaching $1.84 billion compared to $1.34 billion in the third quarter of the previous year.

Management noted that differences between GAAP net income and operating earnings for the period stemmed from specific adjustments. These included gains and losses on nuclear decommissioning trust funds, the mark-to-market impact of economic hedging activities, and nonregulated asset impairments.

Segment Performance Drivers Across Virginia and South Carolina

Dominion Energy’s operational results varied across its service areas, which span regulated electricity supply in Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina, alongside regulated natural gas distribution in South Carolina. Dominion Energy Virginia saw its performance driven by weather conditions, customer consumption patterns, and the financial effects of its 2025 biennial review alongside authorized returns on equity for rider mechanisms.

Similarly, results for Dominion Energy South Carolina benefited from favorable weather patterns, customer demand, and adjustments tied to base rates and the rate stabilization clause procedure. Meanwhile, the contracted energy segment faced headwinds from renewable energy tax credits and operational outages at the Millstone nuclear power station.

Guidance Reaffirmation and Upcoming Investor Webcast

Following the quarterly disclosure, Dominion Energy reaffirmed its full-year operating earnings guidance range of $3.45 to $3.69 per share. The company stated it expects its final 2026 results to land within the top half of that projected range.
