The ex-president of the USA has been accused again.

The indictment against Donald Trump consists of 45 pages and four counts.

He was charged over his attempts to manipulate the results of the 2020 presidential election.

The former US President Donald Trump is associated with the Storming of the Capitol indicted in 2021. The 45-page indictment, filed Tuesday by Special Counsel Jack Smith, charges the 77-year-old with four counts, including conspiracy to defraud the United States.

The accused started his “criminal plan” shortly after election day on November 3, 2020, according to the indictment. “The intent of the conspiracy was to overturn the legitimate results of the 2020 presidential election using knowingly false allegations of voter fraud.” Despite losing the election, Trump was determined “to stay in power.”

On January 6, 2021, radical Trump supporters stormed the Capitol in Washington when Democrat Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 presidential election was to be confirmed there. Trump had previously called on his supporters to march to the Capitol and fight “whatever the hell”. In the weeks before, the incumbent who had been voted out had claimed that he had been the victim of massive voter fraud – a claim that has been refuted many times.

Special investigator tries to “speedy process”

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Special Counsel Smith said the storming of the Capitol was an “unprecedented attack on the seat of American democracy.” “They were fueled by lies,” he added.

His office is now trying to “speedily process” so that the “evidence can be examined in court and judged by a grand jury,” the special counsel announced. The case is expected to be heard by US District Judge Tanya Chutkan, appointed by former Democratic President Barack Obama.

The White House did not respond to the ex-president’s re-impeachment. Incumbent US President Joe Biden, who recently described Trump as a “threat” to the nation, continued his beach vacation in the US state of Delaware.

Trump speaks of “fake indictment”

Even before the indictment was published, Trump himself had commented on his own online platform Truth Social and described the special counsel as “mentally disturbed”. The former US President accused Smith of wanting to publish another “false indictment” “to disrupt the presidential election”. The 77-year-old had repeatedly described the US judiciary’s investigations as a “witch hunt”.

The charge related to the storming of the Capitol is the second federal indictment against Trump. The Republican top candidate for the 2024 presidential election was accused of illegally keeping secret documents in his Florida home in June in the documents affair.

In addition, Trump is on trial in New York for having paid hush money to porn actress Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 presidential election. Prosecutors in Georgia are also investigating whether Trump illegally attempted to influence the outcome of the 2020 presidential election in the southern state.
