In Call of Duty, every trick is exploited to win. But it is particularly clever and nasty in Warzone 2, where you are punished for listening.

Santa Monica, California – Proximity Chat is a cool feature of Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2. Players have used it to negotiate with their enemies or secretly overhear them. However, it is often only used for toxic insults. However, in a round of DMZ mode Call of Duty a player abuses the proximity chat so cleverly that one cannot be angry with them.

Warzone 2: New trick punishes good listening – Don’t fall for the proximity chat

The (almost) hopeless situation: in one round DMZ-Modus von Call of Duty things are looking pretty bad for ZappaBeefheart and his team, one player is already down and the enemies are at the door. When the unmistakable sound of revival sounds, the opponents storm the room – after all, one is defenseless when reviving. But they run straight into a trap and lose.

The Revive sound wasn’t real, it was just nasty played over Proximity Chat. In Call of Duty, a new audio trick punishes you for listening.

This is the sound trick in action: The clip of the clever abuse of proximity chat in Call of Duty has the community pricked up their ears. See and hear the trick for yourself here:

“It works,” says the trickster, who narrowly escaped defeat, with amusement. The trick was not a spontaneous idea, but carefully prepared. Players in Call of Duty take advantage of every advantage: Text chat ruins Warzone 2 – Dead players use it to cheat.

Was ist der Proximity Chat in Call of Duty?

About the Proximity Chat (in German: proximity chat) you can hear conversations of all players who are in your immediate vicinity – to friends and enemies. Even without being in a party or Discord channel, the microphone transmits audio information. However, the proximity chat can also be completely deactivated in the sound settings.

Proximity Chat Weaponized in Call of Duty – How the Audio Trick Worked

Here’s how the player faked the sound: In the comments for the clip on Reddit, users are wondering how the revive sound can be faked so stylishly. The clever player admits that he saved the sound. He then plays it using a tool at the touch of a button (Voicemod is the name of the tool). The tactician also reveals that when he wants to startle enemies, he also releases the sound of a reconnaissance drone at the push of a button.

Players hate and love the trick: In the comments, many CoD players celebrate the trick. A user even writes “Vdamn, this is the smartest thing I’ve seen on the subreddit so far. I steal the idea“. Others, however, complain that many “Wannabe TTV player“ now flood the proximity chat with wrong sounds and you should better skip it forever.

You can’t always trust the proximity chat, but with the Best Audio Settings for Warzone 2 your ears have the best conditions to hear real footsteps and noises well.
