The fire broke out around 12:30 a.m. for an unknown reason, police said.
While two residents rescued themselves from the burning building, a 28-year-old visitor refused to leave the house. He locked himself on the first floor and was forcibly taken to safety by police officers.
According to a report by ORF Radio Vorarlberg, the 28-year-old who sustained injuries was in a psychological state of emergency. He was also said to be armed with a knife. The man was flown to the LKH Feldkirch.
The specialists from the State Criminal Police Office began their work on Thursday to determine the cause of the fire.
