Dortmund striker undergoes chemotherapy

Ivory Coast striker Sebastian Haller will undergo chemotherapy that will keep him away from his German football team, Borussia Dortmund, for several months, following histological results showed the presence of a malignant tumor in his testicle, his club announced on Saturday.

Dortmund wrote on their official website: “Sebastian Haller (28 years old) will be absent from Borussia Dortmund for several months. Histological results showed the presence of a malignant tumor in the testicle.”

Dortmund quoted its sporting director, Sebastian Kehl, as saying that Haller’s chances of recovery are “very good”, and that he will “get the best treatment.”

The club called on the media and fans for understanding, for not releasing any medical details regarding Haller’s treatment.

The Ivory Coast striker joined Dortmund this summer from Ajax Amsterdam, with a deal worth regarding $31 million, to enhance his attacking capabilities following the departure of his Norwegian top scorer, Erling Haaland, to Manchester City, the English Premier League champion.
