Iranian authorities have arrested a Swedish citizen on charges of espionage after a Stockholm court sentenced a former Iranian official to war crimes earlier this month, the official Iranian news agency reported.
Iran has arrested dozens of foreigners and dual nationals in recent years, most of them on espionage and security-related charges. Rights groups describe this as a tactic to win concessions from abroad by fabricating accusations, which Tehran denies.
