Eric V. (56), the man guilty of the murder of Marly Schapendonk (35) and her cousin Martinus Van De Sande (40) in Kinroo in July 2022 ended his life in Hasselt prison, has we learned this Monday in the media of the north of the country.
Last September, Eric V., a Dutch national, was extradited to Belgium after being arrested by Dutch police in Eindhoven the day after the double murder. Marly had been the victim of harassment from her ex-boyfriend for some time.

On the night of July 11 to 12, 2022, the man went to Martinus’ home, where Marly had taken refuge for one night. Armed with a firearm, he had committed the irreparable before fleeing. He was finally arrested the next day in Eindhoven by the Dutch police.
