The Walloon government adopted in 3rd reading, Thursday, the draft decree providing for doubling the tax allowance during the first acquisition of a property. The measure will come into effect this summer.
Since 2018, in registration fees, first-time buyers benefit from a reduction of 20,000 euros, which represents a net gain of 2,500 euros. This measure has benefited nearly 25,000 households per year since its creation.
This allowance will be doubled in July, from 20,000 to 40,000 euros. For the new building acquired, up to 350,000 euros, this measure will make it possible to obtain a real tax advantage of up to 5,000 euros for a property subject to the normal registration rate of 12.5%.
The more expensive goods will benefit from a decreasing advantage up to a value of 500,000 euros, value from which the current allowance remains unchanged. Regarding the allowance for building land or a dwelling under construction or on plan, the value limits are reduced by half.
