The governor of Coahuila, Manolo Jiménez Salinas, appointed this Tuesday Dr. Eliud Felipe Aguirre Vázquez as Secretary of Health of the state. He is originally from Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas and studied as a surgeon at the Autonomous University of Guadalajara, in the state of Jalisco. From a very young age, he began to practice his profession in this entity and has held positions in the public and private spheres.
In the Ministry of Health of Coahuila, he began his activities as medical director of the State Center for Mental Health (Cesame) and later, he held the general direction of the Institute of Health Services, Rehabilitation and Special and Comprehensive Education of the State (ISSREEI). He later joined the Children’s Hospital as deputy medical director and then served as head of Health Jurisdiction No. 8 of the Southeast region, from September 1, 2013 to May 15, 2022.
The 69-year-old official has diplomas in Health Services Administration and Hospital Administration from the Technological Institute of Monterrey. And in his work experience, it stands out that he was a doctor assigned to outpatient consultation at the Saltillo University Hospital; head of external consultation at the Saltillo University Hospital; medical director assigned to the Family Medicine Unit No. 3 of Social Security and deputy director of Medical Care in the entity. He received his last assignment on May 16 of last year as undersecretary of health services and his appointment was made by the former secretary of health, Roberto Bernal Gómez.
After this announcement, It is expected that it will be reported shortly if there will be movements in the eight Health Jurisdictions of the entity. In La Laguna, Sanitary Jurisdiction No. 6 is currently headed by Dr. Juan Pérez Ortega while in Sanitary Jurisdiction No. 7, the owner is Rocío Quiroz Flores.
