More than 1,500 agricultural producers across the provinces of La Vega and Duarte are set to benefit from a RD$14.4 million government investment.
The funds were allocated to provide new machinery and facility upgrades aimed at maintaining irrigation channels and supporting local farming operations.
Administrative Minister of the Presidency Andrés Bautista García delivered the new equipment to the Junta de Regantes Río Camú. The investment funded a retroexcavator, a backhoe, a dump truck, a motor, and a fertilization pump, alongside the reconditioning of the organization’s facilities. Additional infrastructure work noted by the Ministry included the construction of a warehouse and a garage.
José Manuel Santos, president of the board of directors for the Junta de Regantes Río Camú, stated that the machinery addresses operational needs that the institution could not cover using its annual budget. The equipment is intended to assist with canal cleaning, berm and drainage maintenance, and the upkeep of parcel roads.

The delivered machinery supports roughly 88,500 tasks of land across both provinces. According to official reports, 99.25% of this land is dedicated to rice cultivation, while the remainder produces vegetables. Beneficiary communities include Jamo, Bacuí, La Sidra, Las Cabuyas, and El Ranchito in La Vega, alongside La Amarga, Colón, Bandera, Cenoví, and San Francisco de Macorís in Duarte.
During the event, Bautista García emphasized the administration's focus on rural development, stating, Vamos a sembrar arroz, porque el arroz dominicano es un cultivo país.
