Drake debuted his self-described “not-so-short film” titled Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) on Tuesday, delivering a sprawling multimedia project that bridges his recent album drop with an unexpected venture into country music. Among the new material is a standout track that interpolates Ella Langley’s chart-topping single “Choosin’ Texas.”

Accompanying the release on Instagram, Drake characterized the project as “self funded surrealism” and “a story about making the absolute most of it all in one summer.” Offering personal reflection to his audience, he added:
Here’s some life advice before you watch. Nobody is coming to save you. You must use each day to decipher who you love and trust and march forward with them I hope this serves as motivation to make that call, take that trip, drop that song, open that shop, see your parents, leave that relationship or stay in it forever, spend the bread, get some more etc.
“They keep saying our genre is dying,” he wrote on Instagram. “Videos don’t matter. Nobody is watching nobody is listening. I still care. As much as I did on the set of Best I Ever Had. So be kind and rewind.”
The Country Music Pivot and the “Choosin’ Texas” Connection
The inclusion of “Choosin’ Texas” formalizes Drake’s mounting flirtation with country music. That teased version features the artist crooning over a hazy, trap-infused instrumental while mirroring the melody of Ella Langley’s original hook.
This nod follows a series of public acknowledgments between the two artists throughout the year. Drake was previously spotted singing along to “Choosin’ Texas” at Langley’s live show in North Little Rock, Arkansas, alongside country artist ERNEST, before the pair posed for photographs backstage. Earlier in August, Drake publicly praised the Alabama native’s songwriting as “goated” after spinning the original track during a June club set in Houston.
While a country remix marks uncharted territory for the “Janice STFU” rapper, his affinity for the genre is well-documented. Over recent years, Drake has cultivated a close friendship with Morgan Wallen. That bond has manifested publicly through Wallen’s surprise appearance in the 2023 music video for “You Broke My Heart,” Drake wearing a custom Wallen x Big Loud jersey in Berlin during his 2025 European tour, and bringing Wallen out as a guest in Houston.
Drake also nodded to the genre on his track “White Bone” with the lines, “Goin’ to see Morgan, cowboy boots, rhinestones / Giddy up, cowgirl, Las Vegas timezone,” alongside name-checking country icons like George Strait and Shania Twain in past work. In 2023, he purchased a sprawling ranch in Texas, further cementing his physical and stylistic ties to the region.
