ATLANTA, Ga. (NBC Atlanta) – Preliminary investigation indicates that the driver of the vehicle that crashed into a mobile home in Riverdale, Ga., on Wednesday, was “extremely intoxicated,” says a press release from the Clayton County Police Department. aired after 2 p.m.
The agents who responded to the report of the incident that occurred in the 10 block of Ivy Lane said, according to the same statement, that Raimundo Pérez Martínez, 32, ignored a stop sign and crashed into the front porch of a mobile home. “The impact was such that his vehicle completely tore off the porch and ended up under the house.”
The Clayton County Fire Department declared the home uninhabitable.
The emergency services work with the american red cross to offer assistance to the affected family.
Pérez was taken to an area hospital to receive treatment for the injuries he sustained. The severity of his injuries was not disclosed.
Perez was formally charged with failing to drive in one lane, ignoring a stop sign and driving with an open container of alcohol.
More charges could emerge as the investigation progresses, Clayton police anticipate.
