According to the Spanish newspaper The Ceuta Lighthousethe two individuals of Moroccan origin were arrested with several dozen kilos of hashish in their car.

One of them who transported 27 kilos of hashish hidden behind the dashboard was sentenced to three years and one month in prison and a fine of 57,000 euros. The other who was seized with no less than 87 kilos of hashish, accompanied by his wife and children, will serve a sentence of three years and six months in prison.

Many Moroccan families vacationing in their home country return to cities across Europe at this time of year. Authorities say the busy route is often used by drug gangs to smuggle their contraband across the border.
