Dubai is growing; Approval for second phase urban master plan

Approval for the second phase of the Dubai-Two Thousand Forty Urban Master Plan, which will help in the development tax of Dubai. The approval was given following evaluating the progress of the first phase.

UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum approved the project. A total of 10 projects were announced, including City Center Improvement, Dubai Real Estate Strategy, Urban Farming Plan, Urban Heritage Preservation Plan, 20 Minute City and Pedestrian Network Master Plan.​

The first phase consisted of 17 projects. Sheikh Mohammed said that he has a clear vision of how the urban infrastructure development and housing sector in Dubai should be until 2040. Chairman of the Supreme Committee of Dubai Urban Planning, Matwar Al Tayer, explained the project before Sheikh Mohammed.

The plan also proposes a comprehensive plan considering the demand of the real estate sector in Dubai till 2040. The master plan also plans to find and cultivate suitable areas for urban agriculture in a manner that yields high yields to ensure food security. The ’20 Minute City’ scheme is also a part of the master plan, where residents can reach 80 percent of the city within a 20-minute time frame by walking or cycling.
