Dubai ∙ The Dubai police caught the driver of the vehicle that failed to stop following the accident. The Asian driver of the vehicle that caused the accident was caught within three hours. A 27-year-old Asian man was seriously injured in the accident.

Police said the driver fled the scene to avoid capture. Colonel Abdul Moneem Abdul Rahman Mohammed, Acting Director of Bur Dubai Police Station, said that the injured person was shifted to Rashid Hospital for emergency medical care. The information regarding the accident was received in the command and control room at 10 pm on Sunday. It was reported that one person was seriously injured in Alkhus Industrial Area and the driver responsible fled the scene.

A police patrol team was immediately dispatched to the accident spot to assess the situation and take necessary action. Investigation revealed that the young Asian man was crossing a side street when he was hit by a vehicle. The driver fled the scene. He also pointed out that a special team has started the search immediately.

He was caught within 3 hours while trying to escape out of the country. He said pedestrians crossing the road other than at designated places are often the main cause of accidents. Equally important is the irresponsibility of drivers who fail to give way to pedestrians and flee the scene of an accident. It was explained that these acts are two criminal offenses punishable under the law.
