Dying Light 2: Olivier Derivière talks about his work on the soundtrack | XboxOne

Original soundtracks are essential for the video game works that we know and the work of composers has been recognized for some time in this field. We were talking to you this morning about the potential presence of Hans Zimmer on the soundtrack of Dragon Age : Dreadwolf but in France, it was a certain Olivier Derivière who made a name for himself in composition. Responsible for the soundtrack of A Plague Tale: Requiem (and nominated for the Game Awards), Olivier Derivière also composed the soundtrack of Dying Light 2 Stay Human.

Olivier Derivière looks back on his creative work in the latest opus of Dying Light

If you didn’t know, Olivier Derivière was responsible for composing the soundtrack of the last Dying Light released last February. We recently told you about his creative work with Asobo on A Plague Tale: Requiem, but the composer is not at his first attempt since he started composing game soundtracks in 2004. In this series of four videos, Techland and Olivier Derivière detail the creative process for imagining music adapted to each atmosphere and the spirit of the game.

“What’s most interesting to me has been the number of players who have contacted me directly to express their excitement about the music. They told me about all the emotions they felt while doing parkour, fighting, building their world and discovering the story. It was all I could have hoped for: that players enjoy the music, absorb it and feel that it contributes enormously to their gaming experience. I am still amazed to have received such positive feedback, but even more , I’m grateful to Techland for allowing me to explore music in Dying Light 2 like never before. »

We advise you to take a look at this series of very instructive videos which may make you want to dive or re-immerse yourself in Dying Light 2 which has just welcomed the DLC Bloody Ties. Dying Light 2 is available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC as well as Xbox Series X|S and PS5.
