Dystinct: From a Musical Legacy to Collaborations with French and Moroccan Stars – Discover the Journey of the Rising Singer

You are 25 today. But have you been in music for a long time?

I’ve always been into music actually because my dad was a singer. And he sings better than me. He was doing something else, it was another style. But I took some inspiration from him. As I grew up, my attraction for music and song never stopped growing. So, yes, when I was a teenager, like all kids, I wanted to become a footballer. But the music finally took over.

And precisely, this father, your family, how does it look at your success?

On the music, they let me do it, even if sometimes they tell me why I took such a pose in such a video clip (laughs). On the other hand, they give me advice on the environment, the entourage… They are proud of me. My mom likes to share my new songs with her friends. It’s funny.

Success carries you but it forces you to respond to all requests. How do we manage this?

So, with everything going on, I’m even hungrier. I want to do more things, work more…I want to have a full work schedule. It’s not always easy, I’m not often at home, I admit. But I try to take advantage of it and that, with all my team because, without it, there is no Dystinct. We are living a dream right now. The next step ? Let’s first try to take advantage of the present moment, to ensure the release of my new album “Layali” and then we’ll see… The challenge is great at the moment. And I prefer not to think about it too much so as not to create unnecessary stress for myself… In any case, it’s pleasant to be able to garner some recognition for one’s work.

Precisely, this new album, “Laylali”, contains a lot of collaborations including names from the French urban scene like Naza, Franglish, MHD, Moha K but also the Moroccan star of Arabic song Hatim Ammor… That’s a lot of collaborations and not least…

I don’t force anyone to collaborate with me. Things have to happen naturally, there is nothing really planned. If it has to happen, it will happen. But I actually wanted to broaden my horizons, discover other musical cultures… On the song “Ku Je Ti” (Editor’s note: already seven million views in less than two weeks), I sing with the Kosovar singer Dafina Zeqiri and the rapper Swedish of Aramaic origin Richie Rich. I find it exciting to combine musical universes and that each can present the universe of the other to his own audience. In my first album “Mon voyage”, the title spoke for itself. I wanted to tell my path, my career in music. In this second album “Layali”, which means “the night” in Arabic, I want to continue my story and in particular explain what the night represents for me. These nights during which I work, I don’t sleep, I’m in the studio… A lot of involvement, fatigue too, but for results that are worth it. And this new album is precisely a new challenge. I have goals. We clearly know, my team and I, where we want to go.
