E-book reader at CHIP: Number 1 on the list of the best on offer

The Amazon Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition outshines the competition and takes first place on the leaderboard.

The Amazon Kindle model offers excellent book turning and book loading performance. In the test, it needed just 0.4 seconds to turn a page in an e-book.

The new Kindle e-reader is equipped with 32 GB of memory. The 6.8-inch display is beautifully sharp thanks to a high resolution of 1,264 x 1,680 pixels – the display is paper-like.

With a sensational battery life of over 100 hours of reading with backlight, the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition shows the competition where the hammer is. And if the e-book reader does run out of juice, the device can be fully recharged via cable in around 126 minutes. The Kindle device also scores in terms of equipment: Automatically dimmable light and wireless charging are possible, and the housing is water-resistant according to the IPX8 standard.

But the test winner also has its weaknesses, even if they are small here: We didn’t like the missing haptic keyboard and the dependence on the Amazon shop when choosing an e-book.
